“Brooklyn is the new Montmartre.” – John Adams (composer Nixon in China, Doctor Atomic)
OPERAtion Brooklyn is the semi-annual festival that highlights Brooklyn as the cultural epicenter for progressive new works of opera and classical music. The hip and casual environment of the venue, low ticket price and fusion of artistic genres and styles makes OPERAtion Brooklyn the best place to experience an old art form being re-imagined by young composers and performers. American Opera Projects and Opera on Tap are on a mission. That mission is OPERAtion Brooklyn.
“a vital series” – TimeOut NY
“…it seems clear that the Brooklyn hipster is destined to be the next audience for opera…once again some amazing surprises were presented by this rag-tag bunch of very experimental artists. …the old and new guard of opera viewers mingled in an open-minded night of musical experimentation.” - Parterrebox
“…the eclectic and sometimes challenging musical offerings [are] beautifully framed by the contemporary space and the relaxed, social atmosphere.” – The Opera Insider
